Pueblo
Virtual Writing Center has a graphical interface that makes the MOO easier to navigate, more intuitive, and, frankly, more fun. Unfortunately, Pueblo, is only available for Microsoft Windows (any flavor). If you have a Windows machine, Pueblo installation and setup is relatively easy. The following instructions will help you through the process of getting Pueblo up and running on your system.
Installing and configuring the Pueblo MOO client
This section will give you detailed instructions on how to install and configure the Pueblo MOO client so that you can share in class discussions. (If you are familiar with downloading and installing programs on your computer, you may download Pueblo by selecting the link above (or below) and then skip to the setup instructions below.)
To properly configure Pueblo you will need to have your user name and password. As mentioned above, this user name should have been sent to you by Clint@vwcmoo. If you have not received your password, send Clint an e-mail message at gardnecl@slcc.edu. Do not proceed with the installation until you have received your user name and password! This may take up to 1 day!
Downloading Pueblo
Pueblo is a program that runs separately from your web browser; you do not have to have your web browser running to use it. Before you can use Pueblo, you must download, install, and configure it.
Downloading Pueblo is different depending on the Web Browser you are using. For detailed instructions on downloading Pueblo, please select your browser from the list below:
- If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer, click here.
- If you are using Netscape's Navigator or Communicator, click here.
- If you are using another web browser, please contact Clint at gardnecl@slcc.edu for further instruction.

After the download is complete, you should see the following security warning (figure 3):
Figure 3
Don't panic! Internet Explorer is merely asking you to verify that you wish to install the program. This feature is designed to prevent unscrupulous installation of programs on your computer. To continue with the installation, click on "Yes".
At this point the Pueblo installation will begin. On a series of screens you will be asked to indicate where you would like the program installed on your computer, to choose a default web browser, and to name a Start Menu group to place the Pueblo icon in. In most circumstances you should accept the default options. When you have answered the series of setup questions, Pueblo will begin to install. It will tell you when it has finished installing. Depending on your operating system, Pueblo will have either put itself as a program under your start menu (Windows 95/98, or created an icon for itself in a program window (Windows 3.1, older versions of Windows NT). You are now ready to configure Pueblo.
