Virtual Writing Center is a place where writers can get together and learn about their writing.
Based on a "MOO" real-time communication environtment, VWC presents college-level writers with opportunities
- to chat with other writers, to share their writing,
- to collaborate in the "building" of the VWC virtual reality,
- to take college-level writing courses,
- and to meet with writing tutors.
The Virtual Writing Center MOO is a real-time communications environment. It gives writers a synchronous forum to discuss issues in writing, composition, rhetoric, and related pedagogy.
MOOs are virtual realities. A virtual reality is a computer space that mimics (and some say goes beyond) "real" life. MOOs as virtual realities allow people at a distance to interact with each other as if they were face to face. While most MOOers recognize the benefits of physical human contact, they also see the benefits of systems like MOOs to enhance inevitable distance interactions.
